SEA SCOUTS IN SRI LANKA AGAIN !
Sri Lanka Scout Association is about to officially re-launch the Sea Scouts. The Sri Lanka Navy would be providing all the technical facilities and some of the training. Commander Suresh De Silva a former President’s Scout, who is now the Headquarters Commissioner for Sea Scouts is in charge of the operations. They have already had a two day orientation course for prospective Leaders and a one day practical course for the Scouts. About 70 Scouts took part in this initial course where the Navy provided the Instructors and the equipment including the boats.
At the Colombo Camporee held from the 1st to the 4th September 2011 we had the First Port of Colombo camping. We also had over 50 Sea Scouts from Royal College and about another 30 Sea Scouts from President’s College. We urge all District Commissioners to use Sea Scouting as an added attraction to get new members to the Districts. Please contact the National Programme Commissioner “Rohan” on 0772349740 for any more help and details. Navy is willing to help.
