Asia Pacific Regional Committee NSO Visit to Sri Lanka
The Sri Lanka Scout Association is a full member of the World Organization of Scout Movement and is linked to the parent body through the Regional Organization known as the Asia Pacific Regional Secretariat.
Sri Lanka Scout Association is one of 27 such Associations in the Asia Pacific Region having a membership of 18 million registered members. The Regional headquarters is located in Manila, Philippines. The Regional body comprises of a separate committee to which representatives of Regional Organizations are elected ever y 2 years.
The concept of “Qualities of an Effective NSO” was developed after discussion at the APR committee level and during the 5th APR Leaders Summit in May 2006 in relation to standards for NSOs. The regional Committee has agreed in principal that these Committee NSO visit will continue following adoption in 2007 in order to assist the National Scout Organizations in delivering and continually improving the quality of Scouting.
The Sri Lanka Scout Association has agree to host the visiting Regional Committee members during their visit to Sri Lanka from 16th – 20th January 2010.
The APR delegation will consist of the following distinguished members.

- Mr. Prakorb Mukura – Vice Chairman
- Dr. Chao Shao-Po – Member
- Mr. Mohamed Ali Khalid – Consultant
- Mr. Abdullah Rasheed – Regional Director
- Mr. Thian Hiong Boon – Director
The objective of the visit is to work in partnership with Sri Lanka Scout Association to:
- Record the NSO’s performance and progress in eight (8) key performance indicators which are:
1. Constitution
2. Mission & Vision
3. Management
4. Youth Program
5. Adult Resources
6. Relationships & Communication
7. Resource Development
8. Research & Development
- Identify priorities and create objectives for the NSO to focus on in relation to the WOSM APR Strategic Plan.
- Identify major achievements or best practices of the NSO.
- Increase awareness of WOSM in and/or outside the NSO.
