The Sri Lanka Scout Association had its 30th Rover Moot at Dambulla from 15 – 17 December at the site earmarked for the IST campsite for the forthcoming 29th APR and Sri Lanka Centenary Jamboree in April 2012.

An impressive Opening ceremony took place on 15th December amidst a gathering of 225 rovers from all parts of Sri Lanka, Distinguished invitees, Commissioners and Scout Leaders.

Mr. Sarath Godakandarachchi- Asst. Chief Commissioner who was the organizing Commissioner of the moot gave the welcome address. Mr C.Batuwangala a Chief Commissioner was the Chief Guest and declared open the Moot. Mr M.F.S.Muheed Special Commissioner was a Special Guest.

Ms.C.Hewapathirana the Divisional Secretary Dambulla addressed the gathering and thanked the organizers for inviting her and said that Rover Scouts are future citizens of the country who are being trained to take up responsibilities and wished them all success for their future. She stated that they would give the fullest support for the Moot and the forthcoming jamboree

Mr. Godakandarachchi also referred to the stalwarts of Rover Scouting who are no more with us, and have contributed in a big way towards Development of Rovering.

Awards of Recognition for Rover Scouting was presented to Mr C.Batuwangala – Chief Commissioner, Mr.M.F.S.Muheed – Special Commissioner and Mr. S.A.M.A.Jinnah of Kurunegala District who is actively involved in running a Rover Crew.

Mr. C.Batuwangala said that Rovers should be of service to the society and extended his thanks to the Mayor of Dambulla, the Divisional Secretary, the School Principals, and all other officials and the village for the excellent cooperation to make the Moot a success.

Mr Jaliya Opatha The Mayor of Dambulla in his address said that Scouts means good behavior and he will extend his fullest co-opreration.

Rev. of the Temple said that e is very happy and proud that an International jamboree is to be held in Dambulla at the D.S.Senanayake Vidyalaya and the Temple will extend all assistance for the jamboree and the success of the Rover Moot . The Reverend said that The Rovers stood with courage in the rainfall and that explains the character of the Rover Scouts.

Mr Sirisena de Silva Moot Secretary and HQC Commissioner proposed a Vote of thanks

The Moot Programme included discussions on Youth Affairs, Shramadana, Camp Fire, Talent Show , sightseeing to the area and Scouts Own.

The Meet concluded on 17th evening with the closing ceremony.
